Back To Travel

Brand & Identity

When COVID-19 halted global travel in 2020, BCD Travel had only just begun exploring Foleon as an interactive publishing tool — and within weeks it became the platform behind Back to Travel, a six-language microsite built with the marketing, communications, and safety teams to keep clients and the traveling public informed through two years of constantly shifting guidance.

The Challenge

What Was the Problem?

In early 2020, our team worked in travel advertising — a business built entirely on people going places. When the pandemic stopped travel almost overnight, that business had no product to sell and no established playbook for talking to clients about a crisis with no precedent and no fixed timeline.

We had only just started testing Foleon as a way to modernize static presentations. There was no room for a slow rollout: clients needed accurate, current information immediately, and needed it in more than one language, since BCD’s client base was global.

The Work

How I Solved It

Working alongside the marketing, communications, and safety teams, I built Back to Travel — an interactive Foleon microsite that consolidated evolving public health guidance, border restrictions, and practical travel recommendations into one continuously updated resource for clients and the general public.

I built and maintained the site in six languages myself, updating it as guidance changed — sometimes daily in the earliest months — for two years, from 2020 through 2022. What started as an emergency response became the format the company relied on for ongoing client communication throughout the pandemic.

The Outcome

What It Delivered

Two years after launch, Back to Travel was still the single source of truth clients and internal teams turned to for pandemic travel guidance — maintained solo, in six languages, without a single update cycle missed.
